Oscar Predictions 2013

Oscar season already?
Seems like just yesterday I was arguing that Meryl Streep wasn’t going to win her third award.
Alas – I was wrong.
That being said – I still have a pretty great track record choosing these things – so MY WORD IS LAW.
This year we will be treated to the “comedic stylings” of Seth MacFarlane. Bring on the Holocaust jokes!
Without further ado – here are my 2013 OSCAR PREDICTIONS!
(In rapid fashion, due do procrastination and homework!)
Enjoy my lovelies.

“You gotta keep the funny intact.” – Seth MacFarlane
(I’ll be the judge of that!)

85th Annual Oscar Predictions!

Best Actor in a Leading Role
Bradley Cooper – “Silver Linings Playbook”
Daniel Day-Lewis – “Lincoln”
Hugh Jackman – “Les Misérables”
Joaquin Phoenix – “The Master”
Denzel Washington – “Flight”
PREDICTION: Daniel Day-Lewis for “Lincoln”
** This seems fairly obvious to anyone who saw “Lincoln.” Day-Lewis always seems to be a lock whenever he’s nominated. Sorry Bradley Cooper, I was really rooting for you. Call me if you need a hug. Once again – John Hawkes was passed over for an incredible job in “The Sessions.” Hopefully one day he’ll get up there!

Best Actor in a Supporting Role
Alan Arkin – “Argo”
Robert De Niro – “Silver Linings Playbook”
Philip Seymour Hoffman – “The Master”
Tommy Lee Jones – “Lincoln”
Christoph Waltz – “Django Unchained”
PREDICTION: Tommy Lee Jones for “Lincoln”
** This is a prediction I struggled with making. There was no clear front-runner and all of the actors gave spectacular performances. Also – where was Leonardo DiCaprio’s nomination for “Django Unchained” might I ask??

Best Actress in a Leading Role
Jessica Chastain – “Zero Dark Thirty”
Jennifer Lawrence – “Silver Linings Playbook”
Emmanuelle Riva – “Amour”
Quvenzhane Wallis – “Beasts of the Southern Wild”
Naomi Watts – “The Impossible”
PREDICTION: Jennifer Lawrence for “Silver Linings Playbook”
** I very much enjoyed Jessica Chastain in “Zero Dark Thirty” – but Jennifer Lawrence is such a firecracker as Tiffany, giving such a phenomenal performance. I’m a huge fan of hers and I’m sure we’ll see more of her in the years to come.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role
Amy Adams – “The Master”
Sally Field – “Lincoln”
Anne Hathaway – “Les Misérables”
Helen Hunt – “The Sessions”
Jacki Weaver – “Silver Linings Playbook”
PREDICTION: Anne Hathaway for “Les Misérables”
** This is Amy Adams’ third nomination in this category and I would love to see her win but unfortunately this is not her time. Hathaway has been sweeping up as Fantine and she’ll soon find herself onstage for “Les Mis” after previously being nominated for 2008’s “Rachel Getting Married.”

Best Animated Feature
Brave
Frankenweenie
ParaNorman
The Pirates! Band of Misfits
Wreck-It Ralph
PREDICTION: Wreck-It Ralph
** This is normally Pixar’s category but I think “Wreck-It Ralph” was the years superior film.

Best Direction
Michael Haneke – “Amour”
Benh Zeitlin – “Beasts of the Southern Wild”
Ang Lee – “Life of Pi”
Steven Spielberg – “Lincoln”
David O. Russell – “Silver Linings Playbook
PREDICTION: Ang Lee for “Life of Pi
** Nuts to the Academy for leaving out Affleck. THANKS GUYS. He was “Daredevil” get over it.

Best Picture
Amour
Argo
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Django Unchained
Les Misérables
Life of Pi
Lincoln
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty
PREDICTION: Argo
** There may in fact be stronger films than “Argo” this season – but this one seemed to shine a bit brighter than the rest.

That’s all for this year – see you all in 2014!

Jen
