I love the Magnolia opening credits. Set to Aimee Mann, and perfectly showcasing all the characters, it really sets up the film so you know what to expect. You know, minus the frog thing.

A couple notes:

- Why is there a transformer that can disguise as a hot college girl? And shouldn't they ALL do this? It would make things much easier for them.
- Why is Michael Bay a perverted asshole? Robot humping, Robot balls, giant robot penis gun...ugh.
- Why were the parents major characters who did nothing but be annoying.

- WHY DID THEY WASTE FRANK WELKER GODDAMNIT

Thank you Greg, you made my night!

Also I feel immensely sorry that you have read the whole series. I got through book one, and only because it was on audio book and we didn't have any other CD's for the drive up to Edmonton...

Thank you for putting this movie in it's place.

Fantastic!

This list had me laughing out loud. Sometimes I forget how The Simpsons was the best American satire ever made.

The "Can I Borrow A Feeling" part is one of my favourite moments ever in this show.

My top 5 briefly (in no real order):

1. Who Killed Mr. Burns Pt 1 & 2
(The Twin Peaks scene is what seals it)
2. Homer The Great
(The Stonecutters song. Need I say more?)
3. Bart Vs. Australia
("Zany" as you would say, but amazing. The American-flushing toilet is just perfect.)
4. Colonel Homer
(The Lurleen story always jumps to mind when I think of the Simpsons. Made me realize the writers actually really care about the characters.)
5. You Only Move Twice.
(Hank fucking Scorpio as voiced by Albert Brooks)

Honourable mention to any Phil Hartman-centric episode. A great read!

I'd love to make this a comment thread in which people leave their thoughts on the Ten Worst Best Picture Winners. I love hearing this feedback. This list is by no means definitive, so please let me know your own top ten worst

Forrest Gump may or may not have beaten Pulp Fiction is no bother to me. But I didn't know it beat Shawshank. That's just silly.

A Beautiful Mind isn't the most brilliant film but it is a good one. I cared about the characters, and that is more than I can say for Pulp Fiction. And Fellowship is inherently the worst Rings film because there is not nearly enough fucking people up in sweet battles, dogg! (and I am totally serious).

And lastly, Slumdog Millionaire should be on this list. The Wrestler is one of the best movies of all time, and it got beaten by a movie that could never decide on what it wanted to be until it finally rested on "totally fucking average with a Bollywood homage" right at the end.

Okay, look.

Everyone knows the Academy did Scorsese a disservice when Raging Bull, arguably the best film of the 80s didn't win Best Picture.

That said, they also did a disservice turning Ordinary People, a truly spellbinding film into what you refer to as "barely a footnote". This film has been overshadowed by it's Oscar win which is a terrible shame. Ordinary People is a beautiful, affecting film with some of the best performances I have ever seen.

You can rage on the "Bull" as much as you like but at the end of the day they are both essential viewing.
